Meetings:
- 1st informal meeting, Dec., 17, 2009 (held at LRI in Orsay)
Participants:
Guy Atenekeng Kahou (INRIA), Jean-Marc Colley (APC), Josquin Errard (APC), Joel Falcou (Paris-Sud), Julien Grain (IAS), Laura Grigori (INRIA), Eric Hivon (IAP),
Ovidiu Hupca (INRIA), Maude Le Jeune (APC), Sylvain Peyronnet (Paris-Sud), Federico Stivoli (INRIA), Radek Stompor (APC), Matt Tristram (LAL)
Goals
This was the "physicists talk to computer scientists" meeting ("ph2cs") aiming at presenting first the overall framework
of the CMB data analysis to the computer scientists, and then, in some detail, some of the existing problems in this area. We aimed at
defining the first round projects, which will become the first target of the common work.
Program: (viewgraphs available via the collaborators login above)
morning session
- Opening remarks/organizational structure of ANR-MIDAS'09 (R.Stompor)
- CMB data analysis overview (M. Tristram)
- Discussion on time domain level processing (coordinated by R. Stompor)
- - time-domain convolution;
- - Toeplitz x vector products and banded Toeplitz x vector products;
- - selective Fourier operations, compressed sensing, etc ...
- - low rank noise models.
afternoon session
- Map-making algorithms (F.Stivoli):
- - iterative solvers;
- - projection operators;
- - preconditioners.
- Optimizable map apodizations for B-mode analysis (J.Grain):
- - iterative solvers;
- - preconditioners.
- Discussion on time domain level processing cont'd (coordinated by R.Stompor):
- - time domain gap filling - stationary noise;
- - time domain gap filling - non-stationary contributions.

- 2nd informal meeting, planed on early 2010 (Januray/February) (to be held at APC in Paris)
Goals:
1st meeting of the type "computer scientists talk to physicists" ("cs2ph"). Its focus will be on
numerical techniques and mathematical algorithms potentially useful for the problems discussed and defined during
the 1st Orsay meeting in Dec, 2009. The details will be announced soon. Contact us if you would like to participate.

- Official "kick-off" meeting, planned for April, 2010
Goals:
It will be a 1st collaboration-wide meeting (thus including our partners from the US). The goal will be to coordinated
the effort between France- and US- based researchers, review the work performed to date, and discuss/define future common
projects.
