I was born in Montréal, Québec at the Royal Victoria Hospital, about 200 metres from McGill University where, 23 years 7 months and 16 days later, I received a degree in Engineering. I grew up in Ville St. Laurent, on Brunet Street in a house which was directly under the flight path for airplanes landing at Dorval Airport. Every twenty minutes, airplanes would pass overhead, their landing gear down and locked. The windows rattled and conversation stopped. To this day, I still speak in bursts of twenty minutes followed by a 20 second pause.
