Optical Architecture for the Heterodyne Instrument on FIRST

This is a proposal for the optical design of the Heterodyne Instrument on FIRST which was submitted to the FIRST Payload Working Group in May 1996 (read the document), and also presented at the April 1997 conference in Grenoble, France, The Far-Infrared and Submillimetre Universe. The design was ultimately not selected.
